Channel 5 has set a UK premiere date for the second season of Wentworth Prison, with the Australian drama returning on Wednesday September 3rd at 10pm.

A contemporary reimagining of the classic Prisoner: Cell Block H, the FremantleMedia Australia series is set inside the Wentworth Correctional Centre, a women’s prison, and follows the inmates’ brutal struggle for survival and power. Danielle Cormack stars as Bea Smith, alongside Nicole da Silva, Celia Ireland, Shareena Clanton and Robbie Magasiva as prison officer Will Jackson.

Season two picks up three months after Bea killed Jacs Holt. With Bea languishing in the slot, Franky Doyle has risen to top dog unopposed. The new run also brings a major change at the top, as Pamela Rabe joins the cast as the cold, fearsome new governor Joan “The Freak” Ferguson.
