BBC Two has given the greenlight to The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, a companion series to BBC One’s The Great British Bake Off, which will be hosted by Jo Brand.
The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice will see Jo Brand exploring the good and bad moments from each new episode of the parent series. The series will also showcase unseen footage from The Great British Bake Off, with Brand interviewing the eliminated Baker. The series will air throughout the run of the new series of The Great British Bake Off, which will air on Friday nights.
The sister series to the BBC One hit is being produced by Love Productions – the indie that BSkyB recently acquired a majority stake in. An Extra Slice was commissioned by Kim Shillinglaw, Controller of BBC Two; Emma Willis, Head of Commissioning for Documentaries; and Alan Tyler, Commissioning Editor of Entertainment. The executive producers are Anna Beattie and Sharon Powers
“I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to be part of An Extra Slice”, said Jo Brand. “As someone who obviously loves cakes but also, keeps a very strict eye on my figure and exercises assiduously to keep healthy, I hope I am a worthy candidate to represent the Borough Of Baking.”
While BBC Two Controller Kim Shillinglaw, Controller BBC Two says: “I’m delighted that Jo Brand will be serving up an extra helping of Bake Off on BBC Two, tackling the week’s events in her own inimitable style while also offering fans of the show a sneak preview into what’s coming up next.”
