BBC Two has commissioned a companion series to The Great British Bake Off, with Jo Brand on hosting duties. Titled The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, it will run alongside the new series of the baking contest.
Each episode sees Brand joined by a panel of comedians, celebrity fans and special guests to pick over the latest instalment from the tent. The baker sent home that week drops by to talk through their exit, and there is a look at the baking efforts sent in by viewers at home, the triumphs and the disasters alike.
Known for her quick, dry wit, Brand is a natural fit to front the show’s lighter, chattier take on the competition. An Extra Slice gives the programme’s many fans an extra helping each week beyond the main series.
