Channel 5 has set a UK premiere date for Under the Dome, with the CBS drama arriving on Monday August 19th at 10pm.
Based on Stephen King’s novel and developed for television by Brian K. Vaughan, the series is set in the small town of Chester’s Mill, which is abruptly and inexplicably sealed off from the outside world by a vast, transparent, indestructible dome. Cut off from communication and supplies, the residents must cope with dwindling resources and rising panic while trying to work out where the dome came from and how to get out.
Mike Vogel stars as drifter Dale “Barbie” Barbara, with Rachelle Lefevre as journalist Julia Shumway and Dean Norris as the scheming local councilman Big Jim Rennie. Produced by CBS Television Studios with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, the thirteen-part first season drew close to 20 million viewers for its US premiere and has already been renewed for a second season.
