The ninth (and final) season of the CBS drama series CSI: NY will receive its UK premiere on Channel 5 on Tuesday July 30th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Created by Anthony E. Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn and Ann Donahue, CSI: NY revolves around the activities of Mac Taylor and his team of investigators working for the NYPD out of the New York Crime Lab. The series was produced by CBS Television Studios and starred Gary Sinise, Carmine Giovinazzo, Hill Harper, Eddie Cahill, Anna Belknap, Robert Joy, A. J. Buckley and Sela Ward. In the opening episode of the show’s ninth season, titled Reignited, Dispatch alerts everyone at the FDNY vs. NYPD Hockey Game to a fire in progress and tragedy strikes when a large explosion at the burning building kills Captain Frank Smith. Mac and Flack find infamous arsonist Leonard Brooks at the scene, but he claims that he is being framed. They reluctantly accept Brooks’ offer to be the arson investigator on the case.

CSI New York was one of my favourite programmes but I’ve stopped watching it because of the obsession with flashing lights – a crap gimmick that is spoiling too many US shows.
