ITV has released a trailer for Elephants Can Remember, the opening episode of the thirteenth and final series of Agatha Christie’s Poirot. David Suchet returns as Hercule Poirot, with the film airing on Sunday June 9th at 8pm.

Adapted by Nick Dear from Christie’s novel, the story sees crime writer Ariadne Oliver, played by Zoë Wanamaker, asked by the formidable Mrs Burton-Cox to look into the deaths of her goddaughter’s parents. General and Lady Ravenscroft were found shot at their home more than a decade earlier in what looked like a murder-suicide, but the truth of who killed whom was never settled.

Poirot, meanwhile, is wrapped up in the killing of an elderly psychiatrist, and only gradually realises that his case and Mrs Oliver’s are tangled together. Greta Scacchi, Vanessa Kirby and Iain Glen feature among the guest cast.
