UKTV has announced a new free-to-air channel called Drama, set to launch on July 8th.

Available on Freeview and aimed at ABC1 adults, the channel will showcase the best of British drama from across the decades, including titles such as Pride & Prejudice, Sharpe, Cranford, Lark Rise to Candleford, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Tipping the Velvet and Catherine Cookson’s The Cinder Path. UKTV is pitching it as a home for acclaimed series featuring talent that has gone on to Hollywood success.

Drama is the first new channel UKTV has launched since Really in 2009, and joins the broadcaster’s other free-to-air services Dave, Really and Yesterday. Adrian Wills moves across from the factual channels to serve as its general manager.
