ITV has set a premiere date for the first full series of Endeavour, with the Inspector Morse prequel beginning on Sunday April 14th at 8pm.
Written by Russell Lewis, the drama follows a young Endeavour Morse, played by Shaun Evans, in his early days as a detective constable with the Oxford City Police in the mid-1960s. It arrives as a run of four feature-length films, following the success of the one-off pilot that aired last year.
Roger Allam returns as Morse’s gruff mentor, DI Fred Thursday, in a series that trades on the same cerebral, atmospheric style as the original John Thaw show while filling in the back story of one of British television’s best-loved detectives.
