Sky1 has closed a deal for the UK rights to Last Resort, the new American military thriller, picking up the series from Sony Pictures Television.
Co-created by Shawn Ryan and Karl Gajdusek, the drama stars Andre Braugher as Captain Marcus Chaplin, commander of the US nuclear submarine Colorado. When Chaplin and his crew are ordered to launch their missiles at Pakistan and refuse to fire without confirmation, they are branded traitors and fired upon by their own country. With nowhere left to turn, they seize a small island and declare it a sovereign nation, ready to defend it with the firepower at their command.
Scott Speedman co-stars as Chaplin’s executive officer, Sam Kendal. The series is set to launch on Sky1 HD on October 30th.
