In With The Flynns revolved around Liam and Caroline Flynn, Mancunians in their early thirties who are trying to raise their three children while holding down steady jobs. It’s tough work and even tougher because they’re still growing up themselves. The comedy series starred Will Mellor, Warren Clarke, Niky Wardley, Craig Parkinson and Alex Carter. In With The Flynns was produced by Caryn Mandabach Productions with Caryn Mandabach, Jamie Glazebrook and Jon Wolph serving as executive producers.
The show’s first season averaged 3.6 million viewers in the overnights in its Wednesday night 8:30pm time-slot. “It was never a huge hit. We brought it back for a second run even though it didn’t do amazingly well”, one insider tells me. The average in the overnights for the show’s second season dipped to below 3 million viewers with the series new Friday night 9pm time-slot. Adding to the woes of the series was that In With The Flynns failed to win its slot and was, on more than one occasion, outperformed on Friday night by a repeat of Mrs Brown’s Boys which aired immiediately after a new episode of the comedy series. “We gave it a shot, but unfortunately the audience didn’t take to the series as we had hoped”, another source tells me, “we remain committed to the genre and have a number of other projects in development.”
