Syfy UK has acquired the exclusive UK rights to Continuum, the Canadian science fiction series, TVWise can reveal. The deal, struck with distributor GK-TV, covers the show’s first run in the UK, with the ten-episode first season set to premiere in late September.
Created by Simon Barry, Continuum stars Rachel Nichols as Kiera Cameron, a police officer from the year 2077. When a group of fanatical terrorists, Liber8, escape execution by fleeing back in time to 2012, Kiera is dragged along with them. Stranded in the present, she joins the Vancouver police to hunt the group while hiding her origins, helped by teenage tech genius Alec Sadler, all the while searching for a way home.
Set against a future in which corporations have replaced governments, the series blends time-travel science fiction with a police procedural and plays with the blurred line between terrorism and resistance.
