The Good Wife Star Archie Panjabi Cast In BBC Two’s ‘The Fall’

EXCLUSIVE: Archie Panjabi, best known for playing the role of Kalinda Sharma - the resident private investigator for the law firm of Lockhart & Gardner in the CBS legal-drama series The Good Wife, has been cast in BBC Two’s upcoming drama series The Fall, TVWise has learned. Panjabi has been cast as Paula Reed Smith, a pathologist who is assigned to the PSNI investigation into a string of murders and forms a close working relationship with Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson).

In addition to Panjabi, TVWise has also confirmed that both Emmett Scanlan and Karen Hassan have joined the five part series in recurring roles. Scanlan plays DC Glen Martin, one of the detectives investigating the unsolved murder that Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson is brought in to review, while Hassan has been cast as Annie Brawley, a young accountant who catches the eye of murderer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan).

The Fall was created by Allan Cubitt and revolves around a PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) investigation in Belfast into a string of Murders. After the PSNI are unable to make any progress on the case(s), Detective Superintendent Gibson, who is on secondment from London’s Metropolitan Police Service, arrives at the Belfast police station to review the murder investigation and close the case. The drama series stars Gillian Anderson as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson and Jamie Dornan as Paul Spector, a serial killer who is terrorising the city of Belfast. Also starring in the series is Bronagh Waugh (Hollyoaks), Niamh McGrady (Upstairs Downstairs), Gerard McCarthy (Hollyoaks), John Lynch (The Jury), Simon Delaney (Roy) and Séainín Brennan (Hidden).

Filming is currently underway on the series in Belfast, Northern Ireland and is set to wrap in June. BBC Two expects to air the series later this year.
