Indie October Films has hired former Vice Studios exec Neil Breakwell to serve as their new Head of Topical Programmes. In the newly created senior role, Breakwell develop and executive produce new programming with a particular focus on live shows, fast response documentaries, younger skewing formats and integration across digital platforms. Breakwell was previously Vice-President of News & Current Affairs at Vice Studios, where he was responsible for the company’s news and current affairs development and factual content. Before joining Vice, he held various roles at the BBC including Deputy Editor of Newsnight and producing the Corporation’s UK and US election coverage.
Channel 4 is set to explore pot. The PSB has handed out a two episode series order to fixed-rig marijuana documentary series The Drugs Café. The series is set in a Dutch coffee shop and follows adults of all ages and backgrounds as they take marijuana, sometimes for the first time. Testing the theory that cannabis could bring about more harmonious human relationships, every visitor will have a clear and heartfelt motivation for trying the high, whether they’re looking for a peaceful way to settle a dispute, hoping to take the sting out of a surprising revelation or simply looking to strengthen an existing bond.
The third season of Upstart Crow will premiere on BBC Two on Wednesday August 29th at 8:30pm, it has been announced.
The fourth season of Outlander will receive its UK premiere on Amazon Prime Video UK on Monday November 5th, TVWise has learned. New episodes will then continue to be made available to UK Prime subscribers every Monday, less than 24 hours after they initially air on Starz in the United States.
UKTV has teamed up with The Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood for a traveling cookery show, aptly titled Paul Goes To Hollywood. The series is set air on Good Food in 2019, followed by a repeat window on W. The five episode series follow Paul Hollywood as he embarks on a road trip across the USA. Combining his passion for baking, biking and movies, Paul journeys across the continent on a Harley Davidson before he arrives in the ultimate movie mecca, Hollywood. Paul’s 3000-mile tour takes in culinary locations inspired by some of the most iconic films.
