BBC One has ordered a new 90 minute TV movie titled Common. Penned by Accused scribe Jimmy McGovern, the film will explore the potential injustice of the Joint Enterprise or Common Purpose law.
EXCLUSIVE: Syfy UK has closed a deal with CBS Studios International to acquire the UK broadcast rights to Star Trek: The Next Generation. I hear that the iconic series, which has been airing re-runs on CBS Action, will premiere on Syfy UK in November for the first time in HD. Additionally, I’m told that Syfy UK has also secured the rights to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager and will become, in conjunction with CBS Action, the exclusive UK broadcaster of the series’ once BSkyB’s rights come to an end later this year.
The third season of CBS’ comedy series Mike & Molly will receive its UK premiere on Comedy Central on Wednesday October 10th at 9:30pm, it has been announced.
NBC has handed full season orders to freshman drama Revolution and comedies Go On and The New Normal. The back orders, which had been considered foregone conclusions, come on the heels of NBC winning its first premiere week in the A18-49 demographic since 2003.
HBO has renewed their period drama series Boardwalk Empire for a fourth season, which is set to air in 2013.
EXCLUSIVE: BBC One has put into development a 90 minute one off drama from Strike Back showrunner Tony Saint. Penned by Saint, the 90 minute film is set in 1953 and is said to be a “biopic of sorts that depicts the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.” BBC In House is producing with Hilary Salmon attached as executive producer.
Hunted, the new drama series from Frank Spotnitz, is set to premiere on BBC One on October 4th and on Cinemax on October 19th. The series, which promises to be a “suspense thriller set in the world of international espionage”, hails from the teams behind Spooks and The X-Files and is already in contention for a second season pickup. The overall premise of the series is that Sam, a private intelligence operative who works for a company named Byzantium, is almost killed on a mission overseas. Convinced she was set up by a member of her own team, Sam goes into hiding. After recovering from her wounds, she then returns to work, hoping to identify the colleague who wants her dead.

TNT has renewed sophomore dramedy series Franklin & Bash for a third season of 10 episodes, which is set to air in 2013. The series Dallas, Falling Skies, Perception, Major Crimes and Rizzoli & Isles, all of which have been renewed by TNT for another season.
