The third episode of BBC One’s spy drama Hunted (which originally aired Thursday October 18th at 9pm), pulled in a total of 4.5 million viewers, according to the consolidated ratings (live+7). EXCLUSIVE: The upcoming sixteenth season of BBC One’s long-running drama series Silent Witness is already poised to be one of change, so, perhaps unsurprisingly, the BBC is bringing in a number of experienced directors to helm the 10 episodes of the season. I’ve learned that Anthony Byrne, Richard Clark, Thaddeus O’Sullivan, David Richards and Douglas Mackinnon have all been signed to direct various episodes of season 16. My sources tell me that all 5 directors will helm 2 episodes, which will be two part stories. Production on season 16 is currently underway, with BBC One eyeing a 2013 premiere.
HBO’s drama series Treme will return for a fourth and final season of 5 episode in 2013, with production due to commence on November 5th. The Network made the announcement on their Facebook page saying: “Strike up the band. Production on the 5-episode final season of Treme begins November 5th.”
EXCLUSIVE: I have just learned that Channel 5 has closed a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the second season of Person of Interest. My sources were clear to stress that Person of Interest has been a solid performer for Channel 5 and that the current mid-season break the series is on (after airing only 10 episodes of season 1) is not down to the ratings performance of the series. I hear that the second half of season 1 will return to Channel 5 in late January while season 2 is tentatively scheduled to premiere in Autumn 2013.
NBC is showing faith in freshman series Chicago Fire and Guys With Kids. The network has ordered five additional scripts for both series, TVWise has confirmed.
When TNT’s Franklin & Bash returns for its third season next summer it will be without main cast member Garcelle Beauvais. TNT and series producer Sony Pictures Television have not picked up her option for season 3, TVWise has confirmed.
BBC One’s Hunted returned with its fourth episode in the 9pm time-slot pulling in 3.2 million viewers and a 14% share, representing a series low for the Big Light/Kudos produced series. Week-to-week, the series is down by 0.2 million or 6% in terms of total viewers. Even so, Hunted still won the 9pm time-slot by almost 400 000 viewers.
