Sky Living’s ‘Mount Pleasant’ Nears Third Season Renewal

EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that executives at BSkyB’s Sky Living are closing in on a renewal for their dramedy series Mount Pleasant. My sources tell me that it is not a done deal yet, but they fully expect that the series will be back for a third season. I hear that the episode order for season 3 has not been finalised and will be “somewhere between six and ten episodes.” From everything I hear, the order may land somewhere in the middle with 7 or 8 episodes.

Acquisitions Roundup: UK Broadcasters Renew Deals For ‘Scandal’, ‘Suburgatory’ & More

EXCLUSIVE: Channel 4 has closed a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to pick up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the second season of Suburgatory for its E4 channel. My sources tell me that the second season of the comedy series is currently slated for a late Spring premiere. The company’s More4 channel, as part of the deal signed with Disney Media Distribution to acquire the series, also has the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the second season of ABC’s drama series Scandal. I hear that season 2 of Scandal – which runs a longer length of 22 episodes – is tentatively scheduled to premiere next Summer. This deal with WBITD is the latest in a long line of agreements that the broadcaster has inked in recent months for US imports. Channel 4 has also picked up the rights to the third season of Homeland for Channel 4;  NBC’s new comedy series The New Normal, the second and third seasons of New Girl, the second season of Revenge, the fifth season of 90210, the eighth season of How I Met Your Mother, the second season of Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 and the fourth season of The Cleveland Show for E4; and the the third season of The Big C,  the first season of ABC’s Nashville and the fourth season of The Good Wife for More4.

‘Seal Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden’ Gets Limited UK Release, Will Be Available On DVD & Sky Box Office

National Geographic’s two-hour TV movie Seal Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden is coming to the UK and its getting a new title as well. I’ve learned that distributor StudioCanal has opted to give the project (now titled Codename Geronimo: The Hunt For Osama Bin Laden) – which was originally envisioned as a feature film – a limited theatrical release here in the UK on December 14th. For those who would rather see the title on TV screens, I’m being told that StudioCanal will also be releasing the title on DVD on Christmas Eve and, per the distributor’s licensing agreement with BSkyB, the film will be made available on Sky Box Office that same day.

EXCLUSIVE: With production ramping up on the third season of BBC One’s drama series Luther, I’ve learned that the BBC has tapped British actress Orlessa Altass for a guest role. Altass’ casting follows on from the recent announcement that Sienna Guillory was joining the main cast of Luther for its four episode third season playing the new love interest for John Luther (Idris Elba). In the show’s third season, John Luther is back under intense pressure, with two conflicting crimes to investigate and a ruthless ex-copper determined to bring him down. Luther’s life is his job; that is until love crosses his path and offers him a chance of happiness.

FX Sets Premiere Date For Cold War Drama ‘The Americans’

FX has announced that its newest original series The Americans will premiere on Wednesday January 30th at 10/9c, assuming the time-slot currently occupied by American Horror Story: Asylum. The Americans is the latest series announced as part of FX’s early 2013 line up and follows the previously announced premiere dates for season 4 of Justified (Tuesday Jan. 8th at 10/9c), season 4 of Archer (Thursday Jan. 17th at 10/9c), the first season of Legit (Thursday Jan 17th at 10:30/9:30c) and the next batch of episodes from Anger Management‘s back 90 order (Thursday Jan. 17th at 9/8c).
