Sky1 Closes Deal With Warner Bros. To Acquire UK Rights To ‘Revolution’

The Revolution will be televised….in the UK. Sky1 has closed a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to NBC’s drama series Revolution. This deal, which follows on from one inked with Sony Pictures Television in recent weeks to acquire Last Resort, is for the first three seasons of the show and had been hinted at for some time, with TVWise reporting in October that chatter coming out of MIPCOM was that the series would be coming to a UK broadcaster, and that BSkyB was considered the frontrunner. My sources tell me that Revolution will begin airing on Sky1 in early 2013.

UKTV Unveils New Look Website For Eden Channel

UKTV has today launched a new website for its Eden channel – which has an emphasis on nature and scientific programming. The new website is part of the company’s broader multi-platform strategy for their portfolio of channels (which includes Alibi, Watch, Dave and Really) and will see UKTV redesign all of its websites to increase distribution of content and improve viewers’ engagement with channel brands online. As part of said strategy, UKTV has already launched video-on-demand services for Dave (Dave-On-Demand) and Yesterday (Yesterday-On-Demand), while the on-demand service for Really is slated to launch next month.

My sources are telling me that the broadcaster has closed a deal with Zodiak Rights to pick up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to all three seasons of truTV’s reality series Lizard Lick Towing and, TVWise has learned exclusively, given a broadcast pilot order to Undercover,a new comedy series from Sacha Alexander, Simon Dean and Andy Milligan. My sources also tell me that Dave is making plans with Doug Naylor for an eleventh series of Red Dwarf, following the successful launch of Red Dwarf X earlier this year.

British Actors Andrew Gower & Thomas Howes Film Guest Spots For ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ Season 6

EXCLUSIVE: When the CBC/Alibi series Murdoch Mysteries returns for its sixth season (set to premiere on January 7th on CBC in Canada and in February on Alibi in the UK) it will feature two notable British characters and actors. I’ve learned that Andrew Gower (Being Human) and Thomas Howes (Downton Abbey) have both filmed guest spots on the show’s sixth season. What’s more, my sources tell me that Gower will be playing none other than legendary detective Sherlock Holmes (or at least someone who believes he is Sherlock Holmes), while Howes will appear as a young Winston Churchill. In addition, I’m also being told that Welsh actor Geraint Wyn Davies (24) will be reprising his role as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
