The Amazon owned streaming service LOVEFiLM has inked a new content deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution which will give members of the streaming service on-demand access to hundreds of episodes NBCU owned television series. Amongst the many programmes covered by this SVOD deal is NBC’s comedy series 30 Rock & The Office, NBC’s drama series Heroes and the iconic 1980’s series Knight Rider.
Universal Channel has announced that the last three episodes of the fifth and final season of Canadian cop drama Flashpoint will air daily in the 6pm time slot from Monday February 4th. The broadcaster had pulled the final 3 episodes last month owing to “sensitive content” in the wake of shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Universal Channel’s parent company Universal Networks International took a similar approach with science-fiction series Haven on Syfy UK by initially pulling the final two episodes in late December due to “sensitive content” before rescheduling the final two episodes to air on Tuesday January 22nd and Tuesday January 29th at 9pm.
EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that British actor Tony Gardner has been cast in BBC One’s upcoming three-part drama The Escape Artist. Details of Gardner’s role are being kept firmly under wraps, although my sources tell me that it is a “major part.” Gardner just recently wrapped production on BBC Three’s upcoming comedy series Bluestone 42 and is a main cast member on BBC One’s romantic drama series Last Tango In Halifax, which was recently renewed for a second season. Gardner will be joined on The Escape Artist by former Doctor Who star David Tennant, whom (as TVWise previously reported) has been cast in the lead role as Will Burton.
TNT has picked up its Untitled Shane Brennan Private Eye Pilot (formerly known as King & Maxwell) to series with a 10 episode order. The as yet untitled series, which was originally developed for CBS before being re-tooled and landing a pilot order at TNT last September, is set to premiere this summer.
The Killing lives. After initially being cancelled by AMC last July, and several months of negotiations between AMC and series producer Fox Television Studios, the network has announced that The Killing will be returning with a 12 episode third season, which is due to enter production on February 25th in Vancouver.
NBC’s comedy series 30 Rock will return to the UK to finish airing its sixth season on Comedy Central on Wednesday January 30th at 10:30pm, it has been announced.
BBC One has released a three minute preview clip for the upcoming fourth episode of their drama series Ripper Street – which is set to air this Sunday (January 20th) at 9pm.
