BBC Four Picks Up UK Rights To Third & Final Season Of ‘Borgen’

BBC Four has closed a deal to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the third and final season of Danish series Borgen, it has been announced. The show’s 10 episode third season is set to premiere on BBC Four this Winter. The third season of Borgen joins Australian mini-series Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War and the first two seasons of NBC’s sitcom Parks and Recreation, which were both recently acquired by BBC Four.

BBC One Orders ‘War And Peace’ Adaptation From ‘Mr Selfridge’ Scribe

BBC One has green-lit a six part adaptation of the Leo Tolstoy novel War and Peace, which is to be adapted by Andrew Davies – the writer behind ITV’s Mr Selfridge. BBC Cymru Wales Drama is producing the six part event series, with Faith Penhale, Head of Drama for BBC Wales, serving as executive producer. War and Peace is expected to air in 2015. The announcement comes after BBC Drama announced a raft of commissions last week and joins another high profile series which is being produced for BBC One: J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy.

Netflix UK & Ireland Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Drop Dead Diva’ Season 4

Netflix UK & Ireland has closed a deal with Sony Pictures Television to pick up the UK broadcast rights to the fourth season of Drop Dead Diva, TVWise has confirmed. All 13 episode of the show’s fourth and final season are now available to stream for members of the SVOD service. This marks ths first time that the show’s fourth season has been made available to UK audiences following Sky Living’s decision not to pick up the rights to season 4 last year.

Chris Cottam To Helm ‘Miss Wright’ For Sky Living, Sky Arts Sets Cast For ‘Mr Understood’

EXCLUSIVE: Sky Living and ITV Studios have tapped Chris Cottam to direct Miss Wright, one of the one-offs that form part of Sky Living’s recently announced Love Matters strand. Word is that BSkyB is treating said strand as a piloting method, with a view to commission a full series of any of the one-offs if  they “pop with viewers.” Cottam, repped by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, has just come off of directing Officially Special for Channel X, which is another entry in Sky Living’s Love Matters strand. Created by Isy Suttie (Peep Show) and Fergus March, Miss Wright is produced by ITV Studios and has been described as a will-they-won’t-they comedy peppered with original musical numbers performed by Isy Suttie.

Netflix UK & Ireland Eyes New Seasons Of ‘Californication’

EXCLUSIVE: David Duchovny’s newer adventures as Hank Moody on the Showtime series Californication may soon be made available to UK audiences. My sources tell me that Netflix UK & Ireland, as part of a concerted effort to ramp up the SVOD service’s offering of exclusive material to UK audiences, are looking at picking up the first window rights to new seasons of the Showtime comedy series, beginning with the show’s 12 episode fifth season. The first four seasons of the show are currently available on Netflix UK and the series is currently without a first run UK broadcaster after Channel 5 opted not to extend its licensing deal for the series with international distributor CBS Studios International. Representatives of Netflix UK & Ireland did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.
