Fox Adds O.J. Simpson Drama & ‘Shogun’ Adaptation To Event Series Development Slate

Fox has added two more drama projects to its event series development slate. The network has announced that they are developing an adaptation of James Clavell’s novel Shogun and Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson, both of which are being produced by FX Productions. These two new event dramas are part of Fox’s ambition to have an event series on air by 2014 and join Wayward Pines and Blood Brothers, which are also in development.

TV Land Renews ‘Hot In Cleveland’ For Season 5

TV Land has renewed its highest rated comedy series Hot In Cleveland for a fifth season of 24 episodes. The renewal will bring the series past the 100 episode mark – oft cited as the magic number for syndication – with CBS Television Distribution having already  sold the series to TV stations in 92% of the United States for a September 2014 launch.

FOX Begins Original Content Push With First UK Commissions

FOX UK has handed out its first ever UK commissions, as part of a larger plan to expand its slate of programming with a mix of commissions and acquisitions – in keeping with its pledge to bring smart entertainment with an edge to a wider audience. For its first two UK commissions, FOX has ordered an observational documentary series titled Russians In The City produced by Ricochet (a Shed Media company) and Man Up, a factual entertainment format produced by Betty. Both series were ordered by Nicole Streak, Commissioning Editor of Factual Entertainment for Fox International Channels Europe.

CBS Renews ‘CSI’ For Season 14, Inks New Deal With Ted Danson

Just as they did with NCIS, CBS has secured multi-year contract extension with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Ted Danson and renewed the series for a fourteenth season. In addition to Danson, original cast members George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Paul Guilfoyle and Robert David Hall along with Elisabeth Shue, Wallace Langham, Elisabeth Harnois, David Berman and Jon Wellner will also return next season.

NBC Acquires ‘Crossing Lines’ For Summer Schedule

NBC has closed a deal to acquire the US broadcast rights to Crossing Lines from Tandem Communications and Bernero Productions. The 10 episode series is set to premiere on the network this Summer, just as the network’s dramedy series Camp will also be airing.

Channel 4 Orders World War II Docu-Drama, David Mitchell Panel Show & More

Channel 4 has unveiled details of a wealth of commissions which includes a new docu-drama about an SOE operation to eavesdrop on German POW’s, a new panel show hosted by David Mitchell titled Was It Something I Said? and a new quiz show titled 1001 Things You Should Know, which will be hosted by Sandi Toksvig. In addition, Channel 4 has also acquired a new French zombie drama series titled Rebound and confirmed that they have acquired the rights to the second season of ABC’s Scandal, renewed Misfits for a fifth season and Utopia for a second season.
