Pixie Lott has joined the cast of BBC One’s crime drama series Inspector George Gently for the second film of its upcoming sixth season. Lott has been cast as Megan, an entertainer at the Blue Bird Holiday Camp in 1969.
Mark Addy (Game of Thrones), Juliet Stevenson (White Heat), Sarah Parish (Mistresses), Jemima Rooper (Lost In Austen), Aiysha Hart (Honour), Jack Donnelly (Dancing On The Edge) and (as TVWise previously reported) Robert Emms (War Horse) have joined the cast of BBC One’s upcoming fantasy series Atlantis.
Discovery Networks International has announced that they will be launching a local version of TLC in the UK and Ireland on April 30th 2013, which will feature a mix of US and UK shows. Some of the shows that have been acquired by TLC for launch include Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Breaking Amish. Acquired content will sit alongside original commissions including Ultimate Shopper and Undercover Mom. TLC will be available on Sky (channel 125), Virgin Media (channel 167), BT Vision (channel 875) and YouView on the TalkTalk Player, as well as via Sky, Virgin Media and BT Vision’s on-demand services. The channel will also be available in HD from Sky and Virgin Media.
The second season of ABC’s drama series Once Upon A Time will receive its UK premiere on Channel 5 on Sunday April 7th at 9pm, it has been announced.
New indie distributor DLT/Raydar Rights LLP has taken international distribution rights to BBC One’s drama Our Girl and will shop the 90 minute film to international buyers at MIPTV. The distributor was formed through the merger of DLT Entertainment Ltd & rights management company Raydar Media and was announced at MIPCOM last year.
PBS America will air docu-drama Einstein’s Big Idea on Wednesday May 1st at 7:50 pm, with the two-parter concluding the following day in the same time-slot.
BBC Two has released a preview clip for the upcoming fifth episode of comedy series Heading Out, which is set to air tonight (March 26th) at 10pm.
Following reports earlier this month that Mark Rylance was in talks to star in BBC Two’s upcoming Wolf Hall adaptation, I have learned that the actor has closed a deal to star in the drama in the lead role of Thomas Cromwell. Sources confirm to me that the award winning actor officially boarded the series within the past two weeks. I hear that the remaining roles are still being cast, with production slated to commence in 2014.
