‘Complicit’ Director Niall MacCormick To Helm BBC One’s Cold War Spy Drama ‘The Game’
EXCLUSIVE: Being Human creator Toby Whithouse’s new drama series The Game has found its director. I’ve learned that BAFTA nominee Niall MacCormick has signed on to helm the six episode Cold War drama series. MacCormick’s previous credits include Channel 4’s Complicit, feature film Albatross and BBC One’s Wallander. I understand that casting on the drama series is now winding down, with the BBC aiming to begin principal photography on The Game this August.
Ancient Rome Comedy ‘Plebs’ To Return To ITV2 For Second Season
EXCLUSIVE: Get ready for more Roman comedy. My sources tell me that ITV2 has renewed their comedy series Plebs for a second season of 6 episodes. There is no word on just when the show’s second season would begin production, though I understand that the scripts will again be written by Tom Basden and Sam Leifer. Representatives of ITV did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
Jo Joyner, Chris Addison & More Cast In Sky Living’s ‘Trying Again’
Jo Joyner (EastEnders), Chris Addison (The Thick Of It), Charles Edwards (Downton Abbey) and Alun Cochrane (Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow) have joined the cast of Sky Living’s upcoming 8 episode comedy series Trying Again. Joyner has been cast as leading character Meg; Addison as Matt, Meg’s husband; Edwards as Ian, Matt’s love rival; and Cochrane as Sam, Matt’s best friend.
BBC One’s ‘Blandings’ Renewed For Second Season
BBC One has ordered a second season of their comedy series Blandings, which finished airing its 6 episode first season on the channel back in February. 7 half hour episodes have been ordered for the show’s second season which will again be shot on location in Northern Ireland.
Showtime Renews ‘Nurse Jackie’ For Season 6
Just 24 hours after cancelling drama series The Borgias, Showtime has renewed their dark comedy series Nurse Jackie for a sixth season. The network has ordered 10 episodes for the show’s sixth season, slated to premiere in 2014.
FXX Picks Up First Animated Series ‘Chozen’
