Steven Mackintosh Joins BBC Two’s ‘The Thirteenth Tale’

EXCLUSIVE: BBC Two and Heyday Films have found another actor for their upcoming one-off drama The Thirteenth Tale. I’ve learned that Steven Mackintosh has joined the cast of the 90 minute drama in what is being described by one source as a “substantial role.” The Thirteenth Tale reunites Mackintosh and director James Kent, with the two having previous worked together on the BBC serial Inside Men. Mackintosh, who just recently filmed a major role in BBC One’s four-part drama What Remains, joins a cast which is being led by Vanessa Redgrave and Olivia Colman.

ITV Renews ‘DCI Banks’ For Third Season

It’s been an open secret for the past six months, but ITV just formally announced that they’ve renewed their drama series DCI Banks for a third season. The series has received a pick up for a further six episodes (as three two-parters), with production slated to commence this August in Yorkshire.

Jon Cassar Joins ’24: Live Another Day’ As Director/Executive Producer

24 veteran Jon Cassar has joined Fox’s upcoming event series reboot 24: Live Another Day. He will serve as a director and executive producer on the 12 episode limited series which is currently being targeted for a Summer 2014 launch on Fox. Cassar has a long history with 24 and is one of several 24 veterans that Howard Gordon and Fox are hoping to bring on board 24: Live Another Day. He initially directed 2 episodes of the show’s first season and in the years that followed he was elevated to producer and then executive producer, before leaving the series at the end of the seventh season. Cassar’s other credits include Continuum, Terra Nova and Touch.
