Following on from last week’s scoop that Lifetime UK has picked up the rights to TV movies Betty & Coretta, Prosecuting Casey Anthony and An Officer And A Murderer, I’ve learned that the channel has also sealed deals to pick up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story and She Made Them Do It. Both TV movies are scheduled to air on Lifetime UK this December as part of the channel’s Lifetime Drama Specials strand.
USA Network has renewed their drama series Suits for a fourth season of 16 episodes, which is set to air in 2014. The series is set to return to the network in early 2014 with the final six episodes of season three.
The digital space continues to be a fertile ground for new and exclusive content. Yahoo UK has announced that they will be launching a six-part short-form animated series based on the spoof twitter account @Queen_UK – which has more than 1.1 million followers and parodies Her Majesty The Queen’s conversations with her family and serving politicians – titled Yes, Ma’am.
BBC One has rounded out the cast for Gangsta Granny, the adaptation of the David Walliams novel which, following the success of last year’s Mr Stink, is being eyed as a key fixture on the channel’s Christmas schedule alongside the likes of Death Comes To Pemberley and the Citzen Khan and Open All Hours Christmas Specials.
Universal Channel has closed a deal with Sony Pictures Television to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Fox’s mid-season legal drama Rake.
