E! Picks Up First Original Scripted Series ‘The Royals’
E! is getting into the scripted game. The NBCUniversal owned and operated cable channel has handed a series order to drama project The Royals, which hails from Lionsgate Television, One Tree Hill‘s Mark Schwahn & executive producers Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is set to enter production later this year on location in London, with E! eyeing a 2015 premiere.

Earlier this month,
ITV is sticking with hit period drama Mr Selfridge. The commercial broadcaster today confirmed that they had renewed the series, which stars Jeremy Piven and is co-produced by PBS, for a third season of 10 episodes. Production on the show’s third season is slated to commence this April, once Piven wraps filming on the Entourage feature film.
