Gameweek 19 of the English Premier League will feature a top half battle when leaders Arsenal host visitors Aston Villa, the third-placed side, at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
Arsenal enter the game against Aston Villa after having regained their top spot following momentarily losing it to Manchester City. The 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion was the Gunners’ fourth win out of their last six fixtures, and the third registered on the trot.
The home record of Mikel Arteta’s men is one that does give them some edge over any team paying a visit to the Emirates this season; Arsenal have managed to register victories in as many as nine of their last 10 home games. However, the slump in defensive form will be an area that Arteta will look to improve entering the new year.
Aston Villa can rightly be referred to as the best team in England at the moment; the Lions are currently on a winning streak of eleven games in all competitions. Their last outing was a 2-1 victory over Chelsea registered at the home of the Blues, and it was the sixth occasion where Unai Emery’s men managed to overturn a deficit.
Unai Emery and the Villa Park faithful will also be hopeful of a strong showing from the side given that the Spanish gaffer has led the team to a win and a draw in their last two games played at the home of the Gunners. Aston Villa have managed to win three of their last five games played against Arsenal.
Given the current situation, either a draw or a win for Aston Villa seems to be the cards. A draw seems to be the result with the higher probability.
