The Big Fat Quiz of Telly returns to Channel 4 tonight as the much loved quiz franchise puts television itself under the spotlight. After becoming a fixture of the festive schedule, the telly themed spin off has quickly earned its place as a seasonal favourite in its own right.
What time does it start?
The Big Fat Quiz of Telly airs at 9pm on Channel 4 HD. It follows an evening of entertainment led by the broadcaster’s signature mix of comedy and factual programming.
The format is familiar but the subject matter is strictly small screen, with questions covering everything from headline grabbing dramas to unforgettable reality TV moments. It is designed to test even the most confident sofa critics and pub quiz regulars.
Jimmy Carr is back in the host’s chair, steering the show with his trademark sharp humour and quickfire put downs. As ever, he presides over the chaos as six well known faces compete to prove who knows the most about British television.
This year’s panel brings together a lively mix of comedians, presenters and actors. Harry Hill, Judi Love and Tom Allen are joined by Joanne McNally, Sam Campbell and Susan Wokoma, promising plenty of laughs alongside the competitive edge.
The chemistry between the panellists is a big part of the appeal, with plenty of room for playful arguing, outrageous guesses and unexpected nostalgia. Viewers can also expect archive clips and visual rounds that revisit some of TV’s most talked about moments.
Beyond the laughs, the quiz also doubles as a handy refresher on the shows that have shaped the past year. It is ideal viewing for anyone who enjoys shouting answers at the screen or quietly judging the celebrities for getting them wrong.
Earlier in the evening, there is plenty of alternative viewing for those planning a night in front of the television. Fans of reality competition can tune in to The Traitors at 8pm on BBC One, where alliances and betrayals continue to unfold.
Also at 8pm, Channel 4 offers a money making challenge with Can You Make £10K In 10 Days?, while Channel 5 airs Tom Read Wilson’s Magnificent Journey for viewers in the mood for travel and culture.
Later in the evening, BBC Two screens Mystery Road: Origin at 9pm, followed by more light hearted renovation fun on BBC One at 9.30pm with Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job.
