The new series of The Traitors is continuing to grip viewers as Series 4 moves deeper into its run on BBC One. The hit reality competition returned in early January 2026 and is airing new episodes every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8pm on BBC One, with episodes also available on BBC iPlayer.
Series 4 Episode 4 tonight
The latest instalment, Episode 4, airs tonight and follows on from a tense breakfast scene that left several contestants under increased suspicion. With the game beginning to take shape, both Faithfuls and Traitors are feeling the pressure as alliances shift and tempers begin to fray.
Series 4 once again sees contestants competing inside a remote Scottish castle, where they must work together to build a cash prize while secretly attempting to sabotage one another.
The Faithfuls are tasked with identifying and banishing the hidden Traitors before they are eliminated from the game themselves.
This year’s series introduced a major twist in the opening episode with the arrival of a so called Secret Traitor. The new role has added an extra layer of strategy and uncertainty, leaving even the Traitors themselves unsure of who is truly in control.
As explained by host Claudia Winkleman in the season four premiere, the Secret Traitor is responsible for presenting the Traitors with a shortlist of possible murder victims each night. The final decision must be made using that list, but the identity of the Secret Traitor remains hidden from everyone else in the castle.
Since the twist was revealed, fan theories have been spreading rapidly online. Viewers have taken to social media to share their suspicions, analysing behaviour at the Round Table, reactions to banishments and subtle changes in tone during group discussions.
Some theories are based purely on instinct, while others claim to have spotted more concrete clues within the edit. Certain contestants have been singled out repeatedly, with fans suggesting their calm demeanour or strategic positioning could point towards a deeper role in the game.
The BBC has once again struck gold with the format, which continues to balance psychological gameplay with high drama and unpredictable twists. Early viewing figures suggest Series 4 is maintaining the momentum built by previous seasons.
The Traitors continues on Wednesday 7 January at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with viewers eagerly awaiting further revelations as the mystery surrounding the Secret Traitor deepens.
