Aston Villa v Brentford on TV today

Villa supporters who cannot get to the ground will be relying on highlights this weekend, but the cameras are back for most of what follows. After Wednesday’s Champions League game against Fenerbahce at Villa Park, Unai Emery’s side are live on Sky Sports at Newcastle at 17.30 on 17 October, then at home to Manchester City on TNT Sports at 12.30 the Saturday after.

Viewers in the United States can watch Saturday’s game live on Peacock.

Brentford are fourth and Villa 16th, which is not how many would have called it in August.

It took Villa until their fifth league game to win one, and when it came it was a 3-2 victory at Tottenham just before the break, with new signing Johan Manzambi scoring and setting one up on his first league start. Goals have been the problem, with only four in five games, and that win only lifted them to four points.

Brentford have not lost yet. Keith Andrews’s side opened with a 3-0 win over Spurs and went into the break by beating Chelsea by the same score, with three draws in between. They also won on their last visit here, 1-0 in February.

Emery is still without Amadou Onana, who has a cruciate ligament injury, while Ian Maatsen’s ankle is expected to keep him out until later this month. Pau Torres, goalkeeper Marco Bizot and Leon Goretzka, who has yet to play since signing, are all doubtful.

Mikkel Damsgaard hurt his ankle with Denmark and is set for a spell out, Dango Ouattara missed Burkina Faso’s games through illness, and Nathan Collins is a doubt with a calf problem. Jordan Henderson is also listed as serving a one-match ban for yellow cards.
