BBC Two and S4C are both showing the game, with Welsh commentary on S4C, and BBC iPlayer, S4C Online and the BBC Sport website all carrying it at no cost. Kick off at the Cardiff City Stadium is 19.45 BST on Thursday 1 October 2026.
Wales have lost both their Nations League games and now face Erling Haaland’s Norway at the Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday night.
Two games, two defeats, no goals scored. Wales have had exactly the Nations League group they feared, losing 1-0 to Portugal before going down 2-0 in Copenhagen.
Promotion from League B last season earned them this, and League A has duly served up Portugal, Denmark and Norway. Craig Bellamy closes the international break at home to Denmark on Sunday.
Norway bring Erling Haaland.
He scored again against Portugal to take his record to 65 goals in 57 caps, a ratio that has long since stopped looking like a footballer’s and started looking like a typing error. Norway lost that game 2-1 at home all the same, having opened the campaign by beating Denmark 3-2.
This is their first appearance in League A, having come up alongside Wales. They reached the World Cup quarter-finals in the summer and have won 15 of their 26 Nations League games overall, losing only seven.
Wales remain without Harry Wilson, Nathan Broadhead, Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon, Dylan Lawlor, Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies. Lewis Koumas could come in for Kieffer Moore, with Josh Sheehan pushing for a start in midfield.
Alexander Sorloth is injured for Norway and Martin Odegaard faces a late fitness test on an ankle problem. David Wolfe returns from suspension and Oscar Bobb should come back into the side after an unexpected demotion to the bench against Portugal.
The record between the two is closer than tonight’s form suggests, with three Wales wins, four draws and four Norway wins from 11 meetings. Wales took the last one 4-1, though that was a friendly in November 2011, and the last competitive meeting went Norway’s way in a World Cup qualifier back in 2001.
