UKTV’s Yesterday Channel Acquires Perfect Storms: Disasters That Changed The World

UKTV has acquired the documentary series Perfect Storms: Disasters That Changed The World for its Yesterday channel, in a deal with Entertainment One.

The series travels across the world and back through history to investigate some of the biggest and most consequential disasters of all time, the rare moments when natural and human forces collided to change the course of events. Each episode picks an event apart to explain why it happened and what it was like to live through.

To tell those stories, the series combines on-the-ground investigation and scientific analysis with dramatic reconstruction, 3D animation, archive material and first-hand testimony. Among the disasters it examines are the hurricane that devastated Galveston in 1900 and the earthquake that struck Lisbon in 1755.

The acquisition fits Yesterday’s remit of offering fresh angles on familiar historical events.
