BBC One Orders Four New Dramas From Ben Chanan, Levi David Addai, Andrea Gibb & Marnie Dickens

BBC One is expanding its drama slate, handing a green light to four new series from a varied group of writers in Ben Chanan, Levi David Addai, Andrea Gibb and Marnie Dickens.

The Capture, a conspiracy thriller from writer-director Ben Chanan, begins with the wrongful arrest of an innocent man and builds into a wider story about manipulated evidence and the reach of state surveillance. The six-part series is made by Heyday Television and NBCUniversal International Studios.

Dark Mon£y, a four-part drama from Levi David Addai, follows an ordinary London family who accept a large pay-off from a well-known filmmaker to stay silent about the abuse of their youngest son, and the toll that decision takes. Elizabeth Is Missing, adapted by Andrea Gibb from Emma Healey’s novel, is a feature-length drama about Maud, a woman piecing together the disappearance of her friend while living with dementia.

The fourth commission, Gold Digger, comes from Thirteen writer Marnie Dickens. The six-part series follows a wealthy sixty-year-old woman who falls for a man twenty-five years her junior, and the suspicion that relationship stirs within her family. All four were commissioned by BBC Drama controller Piers Wenger and director of content Charlotte Moore.
