Rosenior will take charge of his side at Stamford Bridge for the first time since his appointment and has already made a strong impression.

His Chelsea reign began with an emphatic 5-1 FA Cup victory over Championship side Charlton on Saturday night, a result that lifted confidence and offered a glimpse of his attacking approach.

Chelsea supporters are hopeful that Rosenior can guide the club towards their first domestic trophy since the 2017-18 season.

With Arsenal boasting an outstanding home record, there is a feeling that Chelsea need a positive result in west London to take into the return leg across the capital in February.

This will be the second meeting between the sides this season. They played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League back in November, a match in which Chelsea spent most of the contest with ten men.

That result continued a long wait for the Blues, who have not beaten Arsenal at home since August 2018.

Arsenal arrive in confident mood after progressing in the FA Cup at the weekend. The Gunners were made to work by Portsmouth on Sunday but eventually ran out 4-1 winners on the south coast, extending their unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions.

Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit top of the Premier League with a six point cushion, yet the Carabao Cup remains a clear target.

Arsenal’s record in this competition has been surprisingly poor, having lifted the trophy only twice, with their most recent success coming all the way back in 1993.

Away from home, Arsenal have been highly reliable. They have lost just two of their 15 away matches in all competitions this season, winning 11 and drawing two. Their recent record at Stamford Bridge is also strong, with only one defeat in their last ten visits.
