Netflix Acquires UK Rights To USA Network’s Shooter

Netflix has acquired the UK rights to Shooter, the USA Network thriller starring Ryan Phillippe.

Based on Stephen Hunter’s novel Point of Impact and the 2007 film that starred Mark Wahlberg, who executive produces here, the series casts Phillippe as Bob Lee Swagger, a decorated former Marine sniper living off the grid. He is drawn back into action to help thwart a plot to assassinate the president, only to be framed for the attempt himself, forcing him to go on the run to clear his name and expose those behind it.

Omar Epps and Shantel VanSanten co-star. With the deal, Netflix becomes the UK home for the series, which is about to begin airing in the United States.
