E! has acquired the UK rights to The Royals and set a UK premiere date of Wednesday March 25th.
The channel’s first scripted series, The Royals comes from One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn and imagines a fictional modern-day British royal family living very public, very messy lives. Elizabeth Hurley stars as the sharp-elbowed Queen Helena, with Vincent Regan as King Simon and William Moseley and Alexandra Park as their wayward twin children, Prince Liam and Princess Eleanor.
Palace intrigue comes courtesy of the king’s scheming brother Cyrus, played by Jake Maskall, while Joan Collins turns up as Helena’s mother, the Grand Duchess of Oxford. The result is a glossy, soapy take on royal life, heavy on scandal and backstabbing.
