Spike UK has acquired the UK rights to Wynonna Earp, Syfy’s supernatural western, bringing the show to British screens soon after its US debut.
Developed by Emily Andras and based on Beau Smith’s comic book, the series stars Melanie Scrofano as Wynonna Earp, the great-great-granddaughter of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp. Returning to her hometown of Purgatory, she inherits the family curse and Wyatt’s gun, and must use it to put down the revenants, resurrected outlaws her ancestor once killed who have come back for revenge.
Tim Rozon co-stars as a long-lived Doc Holliday, with Dominique Provost-Chalkley as Wynonna’s younger sister Waverly and Shamier Anderson as the federal agent Xavier Dolls. The result is a mix of horror, gunslinging western and sharp humour, anchored by a wisecracking heroine.
