Turner Classic Movies has acquired the UK rights to Longmire, the American crime drama based on Craig Johnson’s novels.
Developed for A&E by Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny, the show stars Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, the sheriff of the fictional Absaroka County in Wyoming. Still grieving the death of his wife, Walt throws himself back into the job, working cases across a wide and often lawless stretch of country with his deputies.
Katee Sackhoff plays his sharp deputy Vic Moretti, with Lou Diamond Phillips as his old friend Henry Standing Bear, who runs a local bar and gives Walt a tie to the nearby Cheyenne reservation. The result is a modern western that mixes whodunit plotting with wide-open landscapes and slow-burn character drama.
