Four more actors have joined the cast of Defiance, Syfy’s ambitious new science fiction drama. Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran and Jaime Murray will line up alongside previously announced lead Grant Bowler.
Benz takes the role of Amanda Rosewater, the idealistic mayor of the frontier town of Defiance, while Leonidas plays Irisa, the adopted daughter of Bowler’s character and a member of the alien Irathient race. Curran and Murray play Datak and Stahma Tarr, an ambitious and cunning couple from the elite Castithan alien race who manoeuvre their way through the town’s power struggles.
Developed by Rockne S. O’Bannon, Kevin Murphy and Michael Taylor, Defiance is set in 2046 on a transformed Earth where humans and several alien races live side by side in a town built on the ruins of St. Louis. The series is part of an ambitious transmedia project, launching alongside a tie-in online game from Trion Worlds.
