Katie McGrath is to lead the cast of Slasher, a new horror anthology series for the US channel Chiller. She is joined by Brandon Jay McLaren, Wendy Crewson and Steve Byers, among others.
Created by Aaron Martin and Ian Carpenter, Slasher is built as an anthology, with each season telling a self-contained story. The eight-episode first run, subtitled The Executioner, is produced by Shaftesbury and follows Sarah Bennett, played by McGrath, who returns with her husband Dylan to the town where her parents were murdered on the night she was born.
The original killer, who struck wearing the costume of the Executioner, has long been behind bars. But Sarah’s homecoming coincides with a fresh wave of murders by a copycat in the same guise, each killing staged around one of the seven deadly sins, and Sarah finds herself at the centre of the investigation as the town’s buried secrets come to light.
McLaren plays Dylan, Sarah’s husband, with Steve Byers as a local police officer and Wendy Crewson also among the cast.
