BBC Two has commissioned a new crime drama starring Gillian Anderson. Created and written by Allan Cubitt, the five-part series, titled The Fall, will be set in Belfast.
Anderson plays Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, a senior officer who takes charge of a murder investigation in the city. The drama is structured as a dual narrative, following both Gibson’s pursuit and the killer she is hunting, a man who leads an outwardly ordinary life as a husband and father even as he commits the murders.
It marks a high-profile television role for Anderson and a notable commission for BBC Two. The series is produced by Artists Studio, with filming to take place in Northern Ireland.
