Cinemax has set a premiere date for Hunted, with the espionage thriller due to make its US debut on Friday October 26th.
Created and written by Frank Spotnitz, of The X-Files, the eight-part series is a co-production between Cinemax and BBC One, made by Kudos Film and Television in association with Big Light Productions. Melissa George stars as Sam Hunter, a sharp and resourceful operative for Byzantium, a secretive private intelligence firm.
The story opens with Sam finishing a job in Tangier when an attempt on her life leaves her badly injured. Unsure who wanted her dead, and suspecting it came from within her own organisation, she vanishes to recover before returning to work close to a year later. Her reappearance unsettles colleagues who are wary of where she has been, not least Aidan Marsh, her secret lover.
Adam Rayner plays Marsh, with Stephen Dillane and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Sam’s superiors at Byzantium. Hunted is only the second original primetime drama for Cinemax, following Strike Back.
