Audrey Brisson has joined the cast of Outlander for its second season, TVWise can reveal. The stage actress will play Sister Angelique, a nun at L’Hôpital des Anges in Paris.
The role ties into the Paris storyline that drives the new season, which adapts Diana Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber. After leaving Scotland, Claire and Jamie Fraser, played by Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan, settle in France, where Claire puts her medical knowledge to use by volunteering at the charity hospital. That work brings her into contact with the nuns who run it, Sister Angelique among them.
Brisson’s casting is understood to be a guest role for now, though there is potential for the part to recur. A French-Canadian singer and performer, she is best known for originating the role of Zoé in Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam.
