Hugo Speer (The Musketeers, Father Brown), Sharon Small (Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Trust Me), Bailey Patrick (Casualty, EastEnders) and Tori Allen-Martin have been set as the leads in London Kills, the new British drama series from Suspects creator Paul Marquess.
London Kills follows a team of the Met’s top murder detectives. Each episode will focus on a different murder following the detectives as they uncover the truth behind the killing but will also have a serial story involving the lead detective’s missing wife. Glynis Barber (EastEnders), Melanie Gutteridge (Holby City), Jennie Jacques (Vikings), Frances Tomelty (Apple Tree Yard) and Dean Andrews (Last Tango In Halifax) will guest star.
Speer has been cast as Detective Inspector David Bradford, who comes back to work after his wife goes missing and there are still no significant leads on her case; Small as Detective Sergeant Vivienne Cole, who has been running the murder team in David’s absence; Patrick as Detective Constable Rob Brady, an ex-soldier who acts as peacemaker between the two, warring, senior officers; and Tori Allen-Martin plays Trainee Detective Sergeant Billie Fitzgerald.
The drama series was ordered by Acorn TV earlier this year; marking their second British commission for the North American streaming service after they renewed Agatha Raisin for a second season. Two seasons, each consisting of five episodes, are being shot back-to-back. Acorn Media Enterprises, the UK-based development division for the Acorn brand of RLJ Entertainment, are co-producing with Marquess’ PGMTV.
“With Agatha Raisin, Series 2 already in production, Acorn Media Enterprises and Acorn TV are excited to start production on our second commission and first straight-to-series order with London Kills this month”, said Shane Murphy, Managing Director of Acorn Media Enterprises. “With Paul Marquess, we’ve put together a stellar cast of detectives, headlined by Hugo Speer, Sharon Small, Bailey Patrick and Tori Allen-Martin.”
