TBS Picks Up Bill Lawrence/Greg Malins Comedy Pilot Ground Floor To Series

TBS has handed a series order to Ground Floor, the comedy pilot from Bill Lawrence and Greg Malins.

A workplace comedy with a romantic streak, the series stars Skylar Astin of Pitch Perfect as Brody, a young and successful banker who falls for Jennifer, an intelligent maintenance worker based in the same building, played by Briga Heelan. The gap between their two worlds, and their colleagues’ reactions to it, drives much of the comedy. John C. McGinley co-stars as the boss, reuniting with Lawrence after Scrubs.

Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs and Cougar Town, wrote the show with Greg Malins, a former executive producer on Friends and How I Met Your Mother. TBS has ordered ten episodes, with a launch lined up for 2014.

The series is produced by Lawrence’s Doozer banner in association with Warner Horizon Television. The order caps a strong week for Lawrence, who also landed series pickups at Fox and NBC.
