Netflix Sets June Premiere For Sci-Fi Series 'Sense8' From J. Michael Straczynski & The Wachowskis – TVWise

Netflix has set a global launch date for their first original sci-fi series.
The streaming giant has announced that Sense8, their 12 episode series from Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski and The Wachowski siblings (The Matrix), will premiere in every territory where Netflix has a presence – including the US, the UK & Ireland – on Friday June 5th.
Created and executive produced by Straczynski and The Wachowskis, Sense8 revolves around 8 people from across the world who become psychically linked and find themselves hunted to the ends of the earth because of their “unique gift.”
The 12 episode series stars Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah, Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Aml Ameen, Freema Agyeman, Tena Desae, Doona Bae, Max Riemelt, Alfonso Herrera, Erendira Ibarra, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Silvestri and Terrence Mann
Sense8 was originally picked up straight-to-series at Netflix back in March 2013, after it had been shopped around to the other networks. It is set up at Starczynski’s Studio JMS and Georgeville Television and was filmed on location in Iceland, Seoul, Berlin, Chicago, Nairobi, the UK, San Francisco, Mumbai and Mexico City.
In addition to setting a premiere date for Sense8, Netflix also announced that the third season of Orange Is The New Black will begin streaming on Friday June 12th, while the recently announced Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp will launch globally on the streaming service on Friday July 17th.
