BBC One Sets Premiere Date For WWI Drama ‘Passing Bells’

The Passing Bells will air on BBC One across five consecutive nights, beginning on Monday November 3rd at 7pm.

Part of the BBC’s First World War centenary season, the five part drama is written by Tony Jordan, whose credits include Life on Mars and Hustle, and is directed by Brendan Maher.

It follows two ordinary teenagers, one British and one German, who defy their parents to enlist at the outbreak of war in 1914, each expecting it to be over within months.

The story then traces their parallel lives across the following four years as they grow up, find love and lose friends.

The series stars Patrick Gibson and Jack Lowden as the two young soldiers, with Sabrina Bartlett and Erika Kaar among the supporting cast.

A British Polish co production from Red Planet Pictures and Apple Film Production for the BBC and TVP, it was filmed entirely in Poland, and airs in a pre watershed slot aimed at a family audience.
