BBC One Orders Thriller Series ‘Bodyguard’ From ‘Line Of Duty’ Scribe Jed Mercurio
BBC One is re-teaming with Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio for The Bodyguard, a six episode thriller which focusses on the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of the Metropolitan Police Service's Protection Command (US readers, think the UK's version of the U.S. Secret Service).
Line Of Duty - which is moving from BBC Two to BBC One - has tapped Thandie Newton (Rogue, The Slap) to play the new target of AC-12 in the show's upcoming fourth season. Other new cast additions include Lee Ingleby (Our Zoo) as Nick, Roz's husband; Jason Watkins (The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies) as Tim Ifield, the forensic co-ordinator Roz is in conflict with; and Royce Pierreson (Death In Paradise) as DC Jamie Desford, the newest addition to AC-12.
ITV has given the green-light to Muncie, a three-part true-crime drama about Scottish killer Peter Manuel which hails from Line of Duty producer World Productions, TVWise has learned. Douglas Henshall (Shetland) is attached to star.
