USA Network’s ‘The Purge’ Renewed For Second Season
USA Network has picked up a second season of The Purge, their hour-long drama series based on the movie franchise of the same name from Blumhouse Television. The renewal comes mere hours before the show's first season finale is set to air on the network. Amazon Prime Video is the UK broadcaster.
Suits is officially a franchise. USA Network has handed out a series order to the as-yet untitled Suits spin-off that will center around Gina Torres' character Jessica Pearson. The network did not reveal the size of the order for the spin-off. The untitled series follows powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she adjusts to the dirty world of Chicago politics. Pearson was the Managing Partner of Pearson Specter Litt for the first six seasons of Suits. It was piloted through a planted episode (aka backdoor pilot), which is set to air next month as the seventh season finale of Suits.
Psych is the latest TV property getting the revival treatment. USA Network has announced that they are bringing back the show for a two-hour TV movie, which will air on the NBCU owned and operated network this coming December. Lead actors James Roday and Dulé Hill are on-board to reprise their roles as Shawn and Gus, respectively. Other returning cast members include Timothy Omundson as Lassiter, Maggie Lawson as Juliet, Corbin Bernsen as Henry and Kirsten Nelson as Chief Vick.
Irish actor Killian Scott (Love/Hate, Ripper Street) has been set as the lead in Damnation, USA Network's hour-long drama pilot from Longmire scribe Tony Tost. He will play lead character Seth Davenport. He succeeds Rectify star Aden Young who was originally cast as the lead, but departed at the end of last month due to "creative differences".
The Sinner, an hour-long crime drama starring Jessica Biel, has snagged a pilot order at USA Network. It joins a pilot slate at the network that includes Tony Tost's period drama Damnation and Skull and Bones drama The Tap, starring Colin Woodell (Masters Of Sex) and Erinn Westbrook (Glee).
Mere days before the season one finale is set to air, USA Network has handed out a second season renewal to their newest drama series Queen Of The South. Alongside the season two pick-up, USA Network has announced that showrunner Scott Rosenbaum is stepping down and will be replaced on the show's second season by Natalie Chaidez, who most recently created and ran the short-lived Syfy series Hunters.
Halfway through the show's second season, USA Network has picked up their critically acclaimed drama series Mr. Robot for a third season. The size of the episode order has not yet been set.
