UKTV has hired ITV Studios exec Ronan Hand to serve in the newly created role of Director of Programme Funding. The role sits within the company's commercial team and is designed to better enable the broadcaster to realise its ambitions in IP ownership and original commissions. Ronan Hand will report directly to UKTV's Chief Commercial Officer Simon Michaelides.
UKTV and CBC have renewed their co-production Frankie Drake Mysteries for a second season. Ten episodes have been ordered for the show's second season, which is expected to air later this year on CBC in Canada and early 2019 on Alibi in the UK, respectively.
Alibi is adding a trio of scripted dramas to their slate. The UKTV owned and operated channel has agreed a bumper deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television for UK rights to AXN's Jerry O'Connell fronted drama series Carter, and repeat rights to both The Guardian and Unforgettable.
UKTV's W channel has given the greenlight to Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, a six episode amternity documentary series that will see the presenter train as a Maternity Care Assistant. Delivering Babies follows Emma throughout the training process on a busy maternity ward. She’ll be working four shifts a week: day and night; alongside the nursing staff, where she’ll discover first-hand what makes it one of the toughest, but most rewarding careers you can have.

Sophie Okonedo (Undercover), Marc Warren (The Good Wife), Lydia Wilson (Requiem), Genevieve Angelson (House Of Lies), Rebecca Benson (The White Princess), Arinzé Kene (Crazyhead), Rufus Jones (W1A), Max Beesley (Strike Back) and Rebecca Root (The Danish Girl, Boy Meets Girl) have joined the cast of the six episode Anna Paquin (True Blood) fronted PR drama, TVWise has learned.
UKTV's W channel is teaming up with U.S. cable network Pop TV for Flack, a six episode drama series set in the world of high-stakes public relations. Anna Paquin (True Blood) is attached to star in the co-production.
Canadian period drama Murdoch Mysteries - which is co-produced by UKTV and airs on their Alibi channel - has been renewed for a twelfth season. Canadian public broadcaster CBC has commissioned 18 hour-long episodes. There will be no Christmas special for season twelve.
