UKTV Goes Dark On Virgin Media; All Ten Channels Replaced Due To Carriage Dispute
It's happened. The carriage dispute between UKTV and Virgin Media has reached a head. There was no last minute deal between the two companies and as a result UKTV has gone dark on the platform. Their ten channels - including Alibi, Dave and W - have already been replaced by such channels as Paramount Network, YourTV and Premier Sports. There are two key points preventing a deal. Firstly, Virgin Media wants VOD rights to BBC shows that air on a repeat window on UKTV's channels - something UKTV is unable to do as those rights are controlled not by them but by BBC Studios. The other issue is that, alongside that, Virgin is asking for a cut in the fees they pay UKTV for their suite of channels.

Dave is sticking with Yianni Charalambous. The UKTV owned and operated channel has renewed his car series Yianni: Supercar Customiser for a second season. The renewal, which is for twenty episodes, comes after the first season attracted just shy of half a million viewers and ranked as one of the most-watched series on streaming service UKTV Play in 2018.
UKTV is continuing their push into AFP with a new John Torode food travelogue. The commercial network has given the green-light to John Torode’s Middle East, a ten episode series which will see Torode exploring the culinary delights of the region. It will premiere on Good Food and later get a repeat run on W.
UKTV's Dave channel has given the greenlight to Beat The Internet With John Robins, a twenty episode game show fronted by the 2017 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner which hails from Vice Studios. Beat The Internet with John Robins pits members of the public against each other in a quest to predict how search engines respond to a series of questions - from images to wordplay, the results are both unpredictable and hilarious.
UKTV has teamed with Australian broadcaster Foxtel and Parade Media for a new ten episode Jack Stein fronted food series, titled Jack Stein: Inside The Box. The series will air on the UKTV owned and operated Good Food channel.
W is adding a second original drama series to their slate. After starting down the scripted drama route with
