Sky, HBO and Canal+ have released the first image from their upcoming co-production The Young Pope, which stars Jude Law as Pius XIII - the first American pope.
Diane Keaton (The Godfather) has signed on to co-star opposite Jude Law in the Young Pope, the eight episode miniseries from creator Paul Sorrentino which is a co-production between Sky, HBO and French broadcaster Canal+. Keaton will play Sister Mary, a nun from the U.S. now living in Vatican City.
FremantleMedia International (FMI) has secured the international distribution rights to the recently green-lit eight episode papal miniseries The Young Pope, starring Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Spy). FMI will handle distribution in all territories except the US, France, the UK, Ireland, Italy and Germany, where co-production partners HBO, Canal+ and Sky control the rights.
After pro-longed negotiations, Jude Law has officially been set as the lead in The Young Pope, Paolo Sorrentino's 8 episode miniseries about the first American Pope. US premium cable network HBO has also boarded the project and will co-produce alongside Sky and Canal+. Sky Atlantic will air the series in the UK.
